FEES FOR PEAK HEALTH TARANAKI GENERAL PRACTICES FROM 1 JULY 2007
Some medical centres are government funded at a higher level than others, based on their population and the level of fees that the medical centre charges. There are three levels of funding, Interim, Low Cost Access and Very Low Cost Access.

The fees for Interim funded medical centres are in Table 1.

Currently the PHO has no Low Cost Access Medical Centres.

Very Low Cost Access medical centres have agreed to keep their fees at or below a low-fee threshold. They receive an extra funding allowance from the government for doing this. The fees for Very Low Cost Access medical centres are in Table 2.

The following fee information is for a standard GP consultation. A standard GP consultation is a consultation with a General Practitioner for a standard length of time within normal business hours. It may include any normal tests or examinations carried out as part of that consultation. The table shows the standard consultation fee for patients of different age groups enrolled with one of the Peak Health Taranaki's medical centres.

Scroll down to the end of the fees tables for more information about enrolling with Peak Health Taranaki.

Medical centres may charge extra for:

* accounts not paid on the day of consultation * for longer consultations or additional services provided * for patients who are not enrolled with them (casual patients) * for after hours consultations * for patients who are enrolled but not yet funded through that medical centre

*Enrolment takes place at your usual family medical centre - the staff there will talk with you about enrolment, what it involves and what it means for you and your family. * You can only enrol with one medical centre. * Being enrolled with a PHO means that government funding is made available to your family medical centre to care for you and your family. * Enrolment intakes are done on a quarterly basis, which means that if you enrol part way through a quarter, funding will not be available to the medical centre until the beginning of the next quarter.

If you enrol during a quarter, Medical centres reserve the right to charge you at their casual patient rate until the first day of the following quarter, at which time they will receive the government funding relating to your enrolment with the medical centre.
